Plenary Session: Afternoon of November 19th, 2014 

This session is open to all and will start in the afternoon, immediately following the GHSC Summit.  This session will be provide an introduction to the work conducted to-date by the Supply and Local Markets Technical Reference Team (TRT), information on how to access supply chain resources and tools created by the TRT, and an opportunity to network with other supply chain implementers.  

An in-depth, practical workshop on using demographic and morbidity-based methodologies to estimate product needs for RMNCH. This hands-on session will focus on quantification of 13 lifesaving reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health commodities. Participants will receive a copy of the recently published Quantification of Health Commodities: RMNCH Supplement. Forecasting Consumption of Select Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Commodities.

Track 1 - Increasing access to life-saving commodities for women and children: getting the numbers right! 
Track 2 - Implementing data management tools for logistics and service delivery: CommTrack, DHIS2, & OpenLMIS
Track 3 - Engaging the private sector: perspectives from the public and private sector on partnerships that work

This collaborative, hands-on session will include organizations and in-country partners describing their real world experience implementing and using CommTrack, DHIS2, and OpenLMIS to improve supply chain decision making and performance.  There will be on opportunity to gain hands-on experience with each of these tools in small groups. 

Have you ever wondered how to engage with the private sector for outsourcing transport or warehousing? Or to arrange for a private company to provide maintenance for your cold chain? This session will provide guidance on how to do that. This participatory workshop will use Private Sector Engagement: A Guidance Document for Supply Chains in the Modern Context as a guide on considerations before embarking in private sector engagement, the process to take, and detailed hands-on tools to use to formalize the engagement. Participants will receive a copy of the document and will be able to provide feedback that will be used to improve future versions of the toolkit.
